In Helen joined a junior rotation at Heart of England NHS Trust, initially working in general medicine and cardiac rehabilitation.
Following this Helen undertook a rotation in Acute Stroke where she gained skills in assessment and treatment of Acute Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack. Following a promotion in she covered a specialist role in Neurology which also included several rotations in a variety of settings including Outpatients, Stroke Outreach and an in reach service.
The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust: From , Helen worked with clients who presented with challenging behaviour following a traumatic and acquired brain injuries. During this post Helen extended her skills in rehabilitation of complex cognitive impairment by helping clients to structure their day with activities and maximizing their independence in everyday tasks. This work also included supporting clients in returning to voluntary or paid employment and facilitating therapeutic groups.
Since Helen has worked as an Independent Occupational Therapist. Occupational therapists are trained to be proficient in the treatment of hand and upper extremity pathologies.
At Orthopaedic Associates, we have two specially trained and certified hand therapists who have received additional training specialized for hand therapies. It is very rare to find these skilled professionals in an independent medical facility.
